Chevrolet is giving the Traverse a huge makeover. Or make that a complete overhaul. It’s about time, too, considering the current generation SUV dates back to 2008.
The automaker plans to take the wraps off a redesigned 2018 Traverse at the Detroit Auto Show on January 9. In the teaser pic above, it appears to bid farewell to sloping lines in favor of straight horizontal lines, but we’ll have to wait a few weeks for the full reveal.
In terms of size, Chevy says it will offer best-in-class third-row seat legroom. Plus, it is touting segment-best cargo space, too.
Overall, expect the design to fit in with Chevrolet’s other recently revamped models in its SUV and crossover lineup, like the Chevy Equinox and its sibling the GMC Acadia. (You can check out our Acadia test drive here.) However, unlike predictions for the new Traverse, the all-new 2017 Acadia got a substantial downsizing. Its third row now only offers two kid-sized seats. If this proves a turnoff for you on the Acadia, than the Traverse might be the model for you.
We’ll get a chance to check it out for ourselves next month at the Detroit Auto Show and will bring you more details then.
