2017 Ford Escape Production Begins For May Sales

2017 Ford Escape Production Begins For May Sales

It won’t be long now before the 2017 Ford Escape hits the road. Production is now underway and sales of the No. 2 selling Ford vehicle are due to begin in May.

Ford will show off the new model at next week’s New York Auto Show. It’s Ford’s first vehicle to offer SYNC 3 with both Apple CarPlay and Android Auto connectivity. It’s also the first Ford vehicle to come with all-new SYNC Connect technology. Two EcoBoost engines are newly available – a 1.5-liter and a 2.0-liter twin-scroll, both with Auto Start/Stop functionality.

The new Escape is also available with driver-assist technology that can help keep drivers in their lane, maintain a set speed and distance on the highway, and even aid drivers in getting out of a tight parking spot. Oh, and it also comes standard with a new front windshield wiper de-icer on the Titanium model.

Ford is really talking up the build process at the Louisville Assembly Plant – in fact it’s even produced a video which you can check out below. The Kentucky plant one of Ford’s highest-volume production facilities in the world and its been home to the Escape since 2012. In 2015, Louisville Assembly produced 306,492 units – a record for the nameplate.  Ford says a 14-person inspection team combs over the finest details on each new Escape.

If the first two months of the year are any indication, it’s going to be banner sales year for the Escape. Ford says through the first two months of 2016, it’s on track to eclipse last year’s record sales, and that’s with the outgoing model.  So bring on the 2017.
