Jeep is recalling about 3,000 model-year 2017 Jeep Renegade SUVs over malfunctioning warning lights in the instrument panel.
Jeep says multiple indicator lamps could come on when there’s no problem, due to a software issue. Ultimately, that means it doesn’t meet Federal auto safety guidelines and when there is actually an issue, a driver may not realize it.
Dealers will update the instrument panel control software for free.
Fiat Chrysler will begin notifying owners September 16. Owners can call FCA at 800-853-1403, the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration at 888-327-4236 or visit www.safercar.gov.
