Now this is the Infiniti we’ve been waiting for – the third-generation Infiniti Q60 Sports Coupe.
This gorgeous sporty two-door is a reboot of the G37, the automaker’s BMW 4 Series fighter. The G37 never did much for the brand though, so Infiniti is counting on its replacement to bring the brand back into the spotlight.
The coupe will roll out this September with a starting price of $38,950 and go from there. (The 2016 BMW 4 Series starts at $40,850.) Infiniti will announce pricing for the 2017 Q60 Red Sport 400 at a later date.
Infiniti is trying to entice drivers to reserve one now. If you do you’ll get a gift. Choices include a GoPro camera, Bose music system and Tumi luggage. The Q60 Reservation Program is available at InfinitiUSA.com.
Here’s what else we know about the all-new coupe.
1. It comes with two new engines.
The revamped coupe come with all-new turbocharged engines – a four-cylinder option and a new twin-turbo V6. The new base four-cylinder engine drops the price of the starting model from its predecessor. The outgoing model started around $42,000.
The base Q60 2.0t and Premium models comes with a 2.0-liter turbocharged inline-four good for 208 horses and 258 pound-feet of torque.
The Q60 3.0t has a 3.0-liter twin-turbo V-6 engine under the hood. It makes 300 horses and 295 lb-ft of torque.
The upcoming Q60 Red Sport 400 will feature the same 3.0-liter V-6, but it will be tuned to make 400 horses and 350 lb-ft of torque.
2. You can chose between rear- and all-wheel drive.
Rear-wheel drive comes standard, but drivers can shell out $2,000 for all-wheel drive.
3. It comes with Direct Adaptive Steering.
Infiniti calls the Q60s Direct Adaptive Steering an industry-first. The system instantaneously transmits your steering inputs to the wheels, without a mechanical connection. Infiniti says it allows you to steer quicker and smoother than ever before. If you are on rough or uneven roads, the system will consistently make subtle adjustments to increase stability.
4. It features 6 Drive Modes.
There is a Standard mode for daily driving, two Sport Modes for more powerful acceleration and crisper handling, Eco mode for fuel efficiency, Snow mode for the wintry days, and a Personal mode that lets you select different attributes from them all.
5. 3D Sports Seating and more.
Inside, there are a bunch of goodies. They include what Infiniti calls 3D sports seats. They have a high back, integrated headrest, deep contours and bolsters.
The base model comes standard with LED headlights, 19-inch wheels, eight-way powered high-backed bolstered sport seats, Bluetooth, and a rearview monitor.
The Premium model adds an upgraded 13-speaker Bose Performance Series Audio system and sliding moonroof.
Available options include premium semi-aniline leather appointed seats, carbon fiber trim, and ambient lighting accents on the doors and circling the cup holders.
6. It has a lower starting price over the outgoing G37.
