All hail the new, long-awaited, 2018 Ford Expedition.
Ford unveiled the redesigned 8-seater this week ahead of the Chicago Auto Show that opens to the public Friday February 11.
The new SUV is, of course, huge. It’s also sleeker, longer and lighter than the current generation model.
It’s an impressive looking SUV from the first glance. The headlights take some cues from the F-150 and flow into a large grille.
Ford stretched the wheelbase for about four inches for more legroom, but it’s slimmed-down and lighter thanks to its new aluminum body and re-designed steel frame. The combo helps the Expedition shed 300 pounds. There is a ton of storage inside and the shifter is now a rotary dial.
Ford also went all out on technology, which is in line with its other new models. It will be the first Ford vehicle to offer wireless charging. One of the cool new design features is an optional panoramic sunroof that spans two rows.
The Expedition arrives this fall. We’ll have to wait until closer to the launch date for pricing and fuel economy numbers.
