Auto News: Honda CR-V, Acura TLX, Chrysler Pacifica

Several new models are headed into showrooms, plus fuel economy numbers for the 2017 Chrysler Pacifica Hybrid in this week’s Auto News in :60.

2017 Honda CR-V

Pricing for the all-new 2017 Honda CR-V is out. The redesigned model will arrive just ahead of Christmas on December 21. It will start from just under $25,000. It’s only a slight increase over last year’s model even though it sports some big changes. Major updates give the crossover more space inside, a bit more power and efficiency. The CR-V is the top-selling compact crossover in America followed by the Toyota RAV-4.

2017 Acura RLX Sport Hybrid

If an efficient sporty sedan is what you’re after, the 2017 Acura RLX Sport Hybrid is arriving in showrooms. Notably, it borrows technology from the Acura NSX. It features the same three-motor Sport Hybrid Super Handling All-Wheel Drive system found in the supercar. So even though it’s a V6 paired to a seven-speed dual-clutch transmission, Acura says it ends up feeling like V8 performance with 4-cylinder fuel efficiency.  Acura says the 377-horsepower four-door is the most powerful Acura sedan ever.

2017 Chrysler Pacifica Hybrid

The 2017 Chrysler Pacifica Hybrid is surprising itself when it comes to fuel economy. It’s making better numbers than expected in new EPA-ratings. Tests give it 84-miles in all-electric mode. The number exceeds original targets and makes it the most efficient minivan ever.  In our recent Pacifica review, the seven-seater made a combined 22 MPGe miles in hybrid driving mode. Breaking it down that means 18 city miles and 28 highway miles. We loved the ride and drive and the stow-n-go seating, but would like to see a larger touchscreen. The current one is too small to be a backup camera.
