Performance coupe. Turbocharged engine. Drop dead gorgeous. Those aren’t phrases you hear together often when it comes to Buick. At least, not until today. That’s when the automaker revealed the Avista, a sleek 2-door coupe bent on performance.
The coupe comes with a 400-horsepower twin-turbo 3.0-liter V-6 mated to an 8-speed transmission. It rides on GM’s Alpha platform which also underpins the Chevrolet Camaro, Cadillac ATS and Cadillac CTS. The interior featured a 3D-printed door and seat trim as well as a future vision of Buick’s IntelliLink touchscreen.
Will this gorgeous car get built? Probably not in its exact form, but we will likely see its design cues show up in other vehicles in the near future.
“We’re exploring,” says GM President Dan Ammann, GM president. “It’s a pretty interesting statement of where the Buick brand is today.”
It’s also definitely a sign the automaker is quite serious about shedding its older image and attracting younger buyers. Check out more pictures in the gallery below.
