An investigation is underway in Norfolk, Virginia, after a man working on a new Tesla electric charging station was found dead this morning. Medics pronounced him dead at the scene. He may have been electrocuted, but no official cause of death has been determined.
“During the installation process at our new supercharger station in Norfolk, there was an accident involving an electrical contractor,” a Tesla spokesman wrote in an email to reporters. “The Norfolk Police Department is on the scene and investigating.”
Dominion Virginia Power spokeswoman Bonita Billingsley Harris said that the unidentified man was not working for the company. Dominion personnel did have to de-energize the power feed to the station, but no businesses were affected.
The planned supercharger will be the first Tesla station in this particular part of Norfolk, though there are dozens of other charging stations scattered throughout the area.
