In Southern California, where cars rule the landscape, Disneyland is about to give them their own “land.”
It’s Cars Land, opening in the California Adventure park next to the original Disneyland, that will feature three rides and other attractions themed around the Cars animated movies.
A 12-acre stretch of the theme park will be turned into Radiator Springs, the fictional desert locale where the original Cars movie was set. All the characters will be there, like Mater, the tow truck, and Doc, the wise old racing Hudson. The place should be visually impressive as well: Note the Cadillac fins carved in the fake mountains in the photo.
The ride that will get all the attention is called Radiator Springs Racers, which Disney has described as a “major e-ticket attraction.” The ride will take people through a race featuring characters from the movie.
There will be press previews and it opens to the public this Friday.
