Well that didn’t take long. Dodge says all of its 25th anniversary limited-edition Vipers sold out in less than a week. But dry your tears because if you had your heart set one one, you have one more shot. Or make that 31.
The automaker is adding another special edition to the lineup due to customer requests. It’s a limited-edition Snakeskin ACR and Dodge only plans to build as many as 31 of them.
So in all, Dodge is offering six special editions, with all but one model sold out. Order books for the late-add Snakeskin ACR will open in mid-July.
Dodge originally gave fans 5 special edition 2017 Vipers to choose from. Order books for those opened on Friday, June 24th and all 206 sold out in five days. Most within two days and some within hours.
All 28 1:28 Edition ACR units sold out within 40 minutes.
All 31 VoooDoo ACR’s sold out in two hours.
The Snakeskin Edition GTC’s allocated 100 units and GTS-R ACR’s 25 units sold out with two days.
There was a Dodge Dealer Edition as well, only available at two Dodge dealers nationwide, and all 22 of those sold out within 5 days.
“From just 40 minutes to five days, the 25th Anniversary special-edition Dodge Vipers sold out incredibly fast, insuring their future collectability,” said FCA’s Tim Kuniskis. “Our customers are asking, so we’re adding one more special edition — the Dodge Viper Snakeskin ACR.”
The special edition models are being built to bid the 2017 Viper a final farewell. Dodge says 2017 will indeed be the supercar’s last production year. In its current form, anyway. There is hope, however, Fiat Chrysler may bring it back down the road in a different form.
