Is The LM2 Streamliner The World’s Next Supercar?

Is The LM2 Streamliner The World’s Next Supercar?

You know what they say, go big or go home!

It’s a motto Lyons Motor Car is taking to heart as it gears up for the 2015 New York Auto Show. It will be showing off its LM2 Streamliner, the first vehicle from the newbie automaker, and a supercar to boot.  The startup has high hopes for it, and the automaker says it will be the fastest production car in the world. With claims like this and the specs to match,  all eyes will be on the prototype’s upcoming Big Apple reveal.

The LM2 Streamliner churns out 1,700 horsepower, yes 1,700 hp, generated from a twin-turbocharged 8.2-liter V-8 that’s been, “carved from a solid block of aluminum.” Lyons Motor Car is clearly not holding back, designing the LM2 with AWD and a double clutch seven speed transmission set to go from 0 – 60 in 2.2 seconds. Yes, there will be applause if this great feat is accomplished.

The price tag for this modern speed demon, if it goes into production? Oh just $1.3 million.

Lyons Motor Car was founded by Kevin Lyons in 2011 and is based out of New York City. Before founding the startup, Lyons studied art and built custom cars. He comes from a lineage of car builders dating back 150 years. So yeah, he’s qualified to make the all-American supercar that the LM2 Streamliner hopes to be.

The Streamliner had its humble beginnings where all great modern American dreams begin, on a Starbucks napkin.  Lyons says that from the start his dream has been, “to produce a car that no one has ever seen before.” The LM2 Streamliner certainly meets the criteria. With a streamlined exterior that is mirrored in its simple interior, less really is more when it comes to this car. Inside the sportster, you wont find any buttons. Instead, there is one single-touch screen in the center.

Cutting-edge technology is, not surprisingly, front and center for the LM2. It relies on a complex brain like technological system that literally thinks for itself with the ability to self-diagnose and fix itself so that there is never a circuit breakage. According to Lyon, the LM2 is “literally ten years ahead of anyone else manufacturing anything.”

It will be exciting to see if Lyons Motor Car can actually pull off all its claims for the LM2 Streamliner. You can bet the world will be watching as Lyon Motor Car takes the stage. One LM2 Streamliner coming up!
