The hybrid crossover for every buyer including Melissa McCarthy. Okay, so we don’t know if she’s actually in the market for a Kia Niro. But she is running for Kia. Literally. Along with releasing the pricing for the all-new Niro hybrid, Kia is teasing its upcoming Super Bowl ad, starring the comedian.
The ad features a frantically running McCarthy. She’s wearing safari adventure gear and carrying a white flag. What exactly everyone’s favorite funny lady is doing won’t be known until the third quarter on game day. Our guess? She’s running to get her hands on one of the limited Niro Launch Editions.
The Niro offers a standard spread four trims: FE, LX, EX, and Touring. Pricing starts at $23,785 (including destination) and goes up to $30,545. Standard features include 16-inch wheels, power windows, keyless entry, cruise control, and 6-way front seats. The standard 7-inch screen infotainment system comes with a premium Harman Kardon sound system, rearview camera, Apple CarPlay, and Android Auto.
The top Touring trim gets it all. It adds a sunroof, park assist, heated and cooling seats, heated steering wheel, and 10-way power seats. Package options add on safety tech including smart cruise control, forward collision warning, autonomous braking, and lane departure warning.
The limited Launch Edition starts at $28,900. It keeps things simple with only Snow White Pearl or Aurora Black Pearl exterior color choices. It comes standard with special Hyper Gray 18-inch alloy wheels.
The market offers tons of crossover options right now. What makes the Niro stand out, though, its big selling point, is that it is made solely as a hybrid. So no standard crossover with a battery thrown in a la Toyota’s RAV4 and Subaru’s Crosstrek.
The Niro carries a 1.6-liter engine paired with an electric motor. It gets a total of 139 horsepower and a city mpg rating of 52.
