Ford’s tiny EcoSport is finally headed stateside and despite its small size, it’s bringing a lot of cubby hole space with it.
Ford rolled out its smallest SUV at this year’s Los Angeles Auto Show calling it “fun, capable and connected”. It comes in four trims including a top-of-the-line Titanium. All of the models feature a swing-gate-style tailgate.
It’s definitely not short on places to put things either. It comes with as many as 30 stowage pockets, bins, and hooks. There is also a movable floor board and fold-away second-row seats to provide a flat area for moving furniture and other larger items.
In the technology department, Ford’s latest SYNC 3 system comes with a high-resolution 8-inch floating touch screen. There are also seven interior ambient lighting options along with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. It also comes with two fast-charging USB ports plus a 12-volt power outlet. An available 110-volt outlet positioned behind the center console and another 12-volt outlet allow rear-seat passengers to stay plugged in, too.
One of the big highlights Ford is talking up is an available premium B&O PLAY 675-watt audio system perfected by HARMAN. The 10-speaker system comes standard on the EcoSport Titanium. It also includes B&O PLAY-branded tweeters and woofers in the front doors and a subwoofer in back.
The sportiest model would be the SES trim. It features Intelligent 4WD, sport-tuned suspension and steering, and interior copper accents on sport seats.
The EcoSport is either equipped with either a 1.0-liter three-cylinder turbocharged EcoBoost or 2.0-liter four-cylinder. Drivers opting for the 2.0-liter engine get Ford’s Intelligent 4WD standard. Both come with six-speed automatic transmissions.
The EcoSport is on display through November 27 at the Los Angeles Auto Show.
