Mercedes-Benz Debuts New C-Class Coupe

Mercedes-Benz Debuts New C-Class Coupe

Mercedes-Benz is out with an all-new C-Class Coupe that’s basically a scaled-down S-Class Coupe that comes with some cool options, including a 360 degree camera. The best part is that it’s set to go on sale next spring, so if it’s right up your alley, you won’t have to wait long.

“Our new C-Class Coupe continues the philosophy of our exciting coupes. It combines thrilling design with agile sportiness and modern luxury. The C-Class Coupe therefore clearly pledges itself to stylish driving enjoyment,” says Prof. Dr. Thomas Weber, member of the Board of Management of Daimler AG and responsible for Groupe Research and Mercedes-Benz Cars Development.

The exterior design features Mercedes distinct diamond radiator grille with the well-known three spoke symbol prominently displayed. And this car is long. The nose arches back with a long hood that’s 2.4 inches longer than the outgoing model. Sporty luxe touches are found in the high beltline, frameless doors, and free-standing exterior mirrors.

In contrast to its sister C-Class Sedan, the Coupe features a .6 lower suspension as well as a “dropping line” that extends further beyond the rear wheel arches for a distinctively coupe effect. It is also lighter than the previous Coupe with light-alloy fenders, hood, and trunk lid. Despite the weight cut, it also stiffer and stronger than the previous model.

Under the long hood is a 2.0-liter four-cylinder gas engine that delivers 241 horsepower with 273 pound-feet of torque that rounds out its the sporty driving side.

Opening those frameless doors leads into a luxurious Mercedes cabin that features what the automaker calls a mature charm design. It takes notes from the C-Class sedan and adds a dose of sporty coupe charm with the center console, door, and rear side panelling smoothly merging together for an elegant flowing feel.

Cabin style is not a compromise for comfort either. The coupe gets specially designed sport seats with automatic belt feeders for convenience as well as a standard sunroof. It is also resting on a 3.1 inch longer wheelbase for a growth of 3.7 inches in length and 1.6 inches in width, which creates a roomier cabin.

Advanced safety technology is also not forgotten with standard Attention Assist, Collision Prevention Assist Plus, and Adaptive Brake Assist. There are also advanced optional driver assist technologies including Active Parking Assist and a 360 degree camera system.

Look to see the 2017 C-Class Coupe grace dealerships next spring.
