Say hello to the Mercedes-AMG C43 Coupe, the middle child in the C-Class. It’s actually the rebadged version of the C450 AMG Sport, since Mercedes killed off its short-lived AMG Sport lineup.
The AMG C43 Coupe fits between the C300 and C63 models. It keeps its respectable 362-horsepower and 384 pound-feet of torque, along with its three-mode adjustable suspension and its five transmission modes,”Eco,” “Comfort,” “Sport,” “Sport Plus” and “Individual”.
But here’s where things change. It has a new 9G-TRONIC automatic transmission, which is an additional two extra gears from the C450 version. The AWD system also has some tweaks to deliver 2 percent additional rear bias. It can reach 60 mph in 4.6 seconds with a top speed of 155 mph.
In the style department, the AMG C43 has an aggressive look about it thanks to new bumpers, tailpipes and AMG alloy wheels along with black-out trim bits. An optional “Night Package” adds high-gloss black front apron trim, a high-gloss black diffuser-look insert at the rear and two black tailpipes with center divider.
Inside, changes include red stitching and a sports steering wheel in leather with deep embossing in the grip area, flattened bottom section and red contrasting topstitching. There is a 4.5-inch multifunction color display, RACETIMER and 180 mph scale in checkered-flag design in the dash area.
The coupe will make its official debut at the Geneva Motor Show and it will hit showrooms in the Fall.
