Nissan doesn’t have control over the solar bodies, but it is using the solar eclipse today to welcome three new Midnight Edition trucks in the family: the Titan, Titan XD, and Frontier.
Photographers captured the unveiling during Monday’s actual eclipse as it turned the midday skies dark over Tennessee.
The three new special editions will join the 2018 Altima, Maxima, Murano, Pathfinder, Rogue, and Sentra as Midnight Edition Nissans. Like these models, the trucks package together a bunch of black equipment that would cost twice as much to do separately.
The package on the Titan and Titan XD includes black grilles with dark inserts, dark headlights, black fog light finishings, and charcoal interiors. There are black side mirrors, door handles, aluminum wheels, step rails, badging, and bumpers. The XD’s fenders are black and all three come with Midnight Edition badging and floor mats.
The Midnight Black paint though is optional. If you want you can go Midnight style but with Gun Metallic or Pearl White paint. Trim options for the package are the Crew Cab with a choice of SV or SL trims with either 4×4 or 4×2 on the regular Titan and only 4×4 with the 5.0-liter V-8 Turbo Diesel with the XD.
If you go for the Frontier Midnight it comes with more gloss-black touches like on the grille, 18-inch aluminum-alloy wheels, and step rails. The rest; bumpers, side mirrors, door handles, badging, go black. Again, it offers three paint choices: Magnetic Black, Gun Metallic, and Glacier White.
Midnight Frontiers are the Crew Cab SV with either the 4×2 or 4×4 wheel configuration and automatic transmission.
The raging popularity of Midnight Edition models is to the point where Nissan reports they generally move off the lots two times faster than standard models.
Unfortunately, like all eclipses, you’ll have to wait a little bit for the Midnight models. They go on sale in late fall with pricing out then.
