In the continuing battle of titans, Chevrolet Camaro vs. Ford Mustang, the original pony car is threatening to retake the sales crown after many months.
As you may recall, the two muscle cars were neck-and-neck when it came to sales popularity. Then last year, Camaro took a commanding lead. Ford redesigned the 2013 Mustang with new engines and other goodies. So, last month, Mustang managed to outsell its archrival by 7,371 to 6,926, according to Autodata.
For the first seven months of the year, Camaro holds the narrowest of leads. It’s only 628 cars ahead of the Mustang in sales after 56,623 sold so far this year. That’s only about a 1% sales difference.
This is one fight that General Motors won’t want to lose, but Ford’s team is just as motivated. If you’re wondering about the third member of the group, Dodge’s Challenger is way behind and in need of a refresh. Dodge sold 3,631 Challengers for the month of July.
