New 2017 Acura RLX Sport Hybrid Borrows NSX Tech

New 2017 Acura RLX Sport Hybrid Borrows NSX Tech

So you’re looking for a hybrid that offers sporty handling and plenty of fun tech? Well, Acura has just the car for you. The new 2017 Acura RLX Sport Hybrid goes on sale this week.

Most notably, the RLX Sport Hybrid borrows tech from the Acura NSX supercar, making it the most powerful and technologically advanced Acura sedan ever.  It features the same three-motor Sport Hybrid Super Handling All-Wheel Drive system found in the NSX. So even though it’s a V6 paired to a seven-speed dual-clutch transmission, Acura says it ends up feeling like V8 performance with 4-cylinder fuel efficiency.

The 3.5-liter V6 model delivers a 310-horsepower rating. An automatic idle-stop system helps boost fuel economy to 29 city and 30 highway mpg. The power joins with a built-in motor-generator for the front-wheels. Two electric motors power the rear wheels.

There are two models to choose from. The Hybrid RLX Technology Package trim starts from $60,870. The Advance trim starts stickers from $66,870.

Standard luxe features range from the Jewel Eye LED headlights to AcuraWatch. The snazzy 19-inch bright-finish wheels comes standard.

AcuraWatch makes up the suite of safety features. The entire system comes standard. It includes Adaptive Cruise Control with Low-Speed Follow, Collision Mitigation Braking, Forward Collision Warning, Lane Departure Warning, Lane Keep Assist, Road Departure Mitigation, Blind Spot Info, and Cross Traffic Monitor. Whew. So clearly AcuraWatch makes up the high-tech luxury safety side of things.

The standard RLX arrived back in 2014, replacing the RL. The gas versions start about ten grand less than the hybrids
