This is the new $100,000 Lexus LC 500. And we want one. Now.
It’s really just hard to take your eyes off of this gorgeous 467-horsepower sportster. It shares the same engine as the Lexus RC Coupe, and that’s a 5.0-liter V8 that delivers 389 pound-feet of torque. It can hit 0-60 in 4.5 seconds.
What’s new is that the LC 500 sits on a new rear-drive “premium” platform. This is what Lexus says its future is all about as the coupe’s platform will become the blueprint for the company’s future front-engine/rear-wheel-drive vehicles. Lexus says in an effort to sharpen the car’s handling, engineers focused on the platform’s fundamentals by placing most of the mass, including the engine and the occupants, in a position more centralized and lower in the chassis to improve the center of gravity.
The LC 500 also gets a new 10-speed automatic transmission. Plus, there is also plenty of carbon fiber throughout the car to justify the price tag (which Lexus says will be around the $100K mark.)
By the way, it’s based on the LF-LC concept that debuted at the North American International Auto Show several years ago. It will launch as a 2017 model when it hits dealerships next year.
