New Bentley GT Speed Gets Power Boost; Black Edition

New Bentley GT Speed Gets Power Boost; Black Edition

When is enough, enough? Well, if you’re Bentley, the answer is never, and the proof is in the newest version of its Continental GT Speed.

Monday, Bentley announced that it’s taking its Continental GT Speed to the next level on all levels. We’re talking more power, more speed, and more acceleration.

First, the updated GT Speed. When Bentley says it gets an increase in power it’s not messing around. The new Continental Speed is the fastest production Bentley ever. It keeps the same 6.0-liter twin turbocharged W12 engine and a top speed is 206 mph. The real difference is in the power output with an increase to 633 horsepower. The last model delivered 626 horses. Torque is up for a new total of 620. All this combined with the “torque plateau” allows for a boost in the continuous max torque delivery of 2,000-5,000 rpm. This allows it to crank out 0-60 mph in 3.9-seconds. That’s 0.2 seconds faster than the last model that did it in 4.1-seconds.

To take up the sports factor a notch, Bentley is also releasing a special Black Edition as either a coupe or convertible.  The main thing this edition does is, yep you guessed it, add a whole lot of, well, black. It also adds a variety of other color combinations though all with a high glass black finish. The wheels are done in an all-black 21-inch five spoke style with brake calipers in either red or black.

To add a further unique and striking twist, the Black Edition also features contrast colors to the front splitter, side skirts and rear diffuser in four different shades: Hallmark, Beluga, St James’ Red and a new shade, Cyber Yellow. (Cyber Yellow is the new shade so if staying on top of the trends is your thing that’s the one to go with.)

The interior gets carbon fiber trim on the dashboard fascia, center, and roof consoles. The Black Edition seats and center console use contrasting leather offered in Porpoise, Beluga, Pillar Box Red, and Cyber Yellow. The doors complete the look with matching contrasting stitching done in a diamond quilting pattern.

The new Speed and Speed Black Edition are available to order now. Deliveries begin this summer.
