Ok, so the new 2017 Karma Revero is a gorgeous car. That’s no surprise, given Karma is the rebranded Fisker Automotive under new ownership.
We’re getting a first look at the plug-in hybrid in a new teaser video that shows off its solar roof. It doesn’t veer much from the Fisker Karma in the design department. But then design was never the car’s main issue in the first place. It was the money side of things that led to Fisker’s downfall. (You can read more about Fisker’s complicated and messy demise here.) Fisker, which went bankrupt, was bought by Wanxiang Group in 2014. The Revero is the first car under the company’s Karma rebrand.
Karma plans to officially reveal the car in 28 days, according to the current countdown on its website. So for now, there aren’t too many details.
The automaker’s website briefly touches on three things (none of which is the powertrain.) One is the hand-painted Karma badge. The other is its solar roof. The Fisker Karma had one, too, but Karma says this one will create enough energy to power the car. The third feature Karma is showing off is the car’s infotainment system, which it says “represents a departure from the norm.”
The original Fisker Karma featured a 2.0-liter hybrid electric powertrain. We’ll have to wait to find out about the Revero’s engine specs.
Stay tuned for its official reveal in Laguna Beach on September 8. That’s also when the order books will open.
