Porsche is enlisting actor and racing fanatic Patrick Dempsey in a new video campaign for the brand.
The videos feature him talking about racing, showing off his Venice studio, and talking about Porsche cars of course. In one video, he talks about his classic 356 from 1963 which he bought in Venice when he was 18 years old.
“This is really what started it all,” Dempsey said. “It is still to this day so much fun to drive.”
Of course, Demspey also gives the new Panamara some love, too. The 2017 Panamera finally received a long overdue redesign.
Dempsey points out the spoiler and mentions the car’s all-new suspension. Inside, he shows off new upgraded technology. The interior has far fewer buttons and more touch-screen capability. A tachometer on the dash is a nod to the classic 356. But other than that, the instrument cluster is dominated by digital displays. Dempsey is also impressed with the comfy supportive seats and touts the sedan’s “nice” visibility.
The 2017 Panamera is longer, taller and wider than the outgoing model. It’s also available with Porsche’s new twin-turbo V8 and V6 engines. To give it a sports car slash sedan feeling, Porsche says it gave the sedan rear axle steering, active roll compensation and a three-chamber air suspension.
Dempsey is a lifelong Porsche fan.
He hasn’t only raced for the automaker, but he is now co-owner of the Dempsey Proton Racing team which races a Porsche 911 RSR. In a Porsche interview, Dempsey says his passion for racing started at a young age when his dad brought him home little Matchbox cars. He and his dad also watched or listened to the Indy 500.
