The Issue: Porsche is recalling less than 100 2017 model year vehicles to fix side airbags that might not inflate in the event of a crash.
The Basics: The recall only involves 85 cars. Models include the 718 Boxster and Boxster S, the 718 Cayman and Cayman S, the 911 Carrera, Carrera S, and Carrera 4S, as well as the 911 Turbo and Turbo S.
According to a CNET report, the side airbag inflator located in the seat might not inflate after an accident. No injuries or deaths are linked to the defect. Porsche also wants to make it clear it’s not related to the massive, ongoing Takata recall involving exploding airbags.
The Fix: Porsche will notify owners via mail. They’ll need to take their car to a dealer to have the airbag inflator replaced for free. No word yet on when the recall will begin.
