Here’s what we know according the aforementioned report. First, it will offer a crazy long range that exceeds 300 miles. It will also start at $35,000. We already knew that part, but what we didn’t know is that the crazy long range we just mentioned will be reserved for more expensive Model 3 trims. Those will run in the $50,000 to $60,000 range.
As for speed, the Model 3 will reportedly be able to zip from 0 to 60 miles per hour in under four seconds.
Lastly, and not unsurprisingly, it will have Autopilot, Tesla’s self-driving feature. The automaker launched the drive mode last year on the Model S. Again, though, you can only expect that option on the higher-end trims. Same goes for features like automatic braking, lane switching and blind spot warnings. You will also get AWD with the pricier trims.
Tesla isn’t confirming any of this.
The big announcement comes at 8:30 P.M. Pacific Thursday evening.
People are already lining up to place $1,000 down payments on the new sedan.
