If you like the BMW M performance series and dig the color silver, you’ll want to get your order in on this one fast.
This is the very limited 2016 BMW M5 Pure Metal Silver Edition. BMW is only building 50 of them, all for the U.S. They’ll be available starting in August.
BMW says it’s the most powerful car in the brand’s history. Tweaks to the 4.4-liter V8 TwinTurbo engine boost performance over the production model by 40 for 600 horses. Maximum torque shoots from 500 to 516 pound-feet. It’s fast, too. The model sprints from 0 to 60 mph in just 3.9 seconds.
Beyond the extra power, the other story here is the paint. (We just wish BMW’s pictures showed it off a little better.) It’s a special Silver Metal paint designed to reflect light more intensely than other colors. The automaker created the metal gleam by combining a special effect pigment along with hundreds of thousands of ultra thin aluminum flakes. It’s applied at the end of the paint process. Inside, you’ll find leather, pure metal silver M5 badging, plus M multifunctional seats.
The BMW M Pure Metal Silver Edition isn’t cheap. It starts at $130,900, not including destination and handling.
