VIDEO: First Look at 2017 Corvette Grand Sport on the Track

We’ve gotta hand it to Chevy – the automaker sure knows to get rid of our Monday blues. Just check out this brand new video of the 2017 Corvette Grand Sport. It’s our first look at the performance car on the track courtesy of Chevy Racing’s Oliver Gavin. And it’s impressive.

Gavin takes it through its paces on the track and talks performance. The Grand Sport blends the Corvette Stingray and Corvette Z06. So we’re talking a lightweight architecture, a track-honed aerodynamics package, and a naturally aspirated 6.2-liter LT1 V8. The engine is good for 460 horses and 465 pound-feet of torque, and you can pair it with either a seven-speed manual gearbox or the eight-speed paddle-shift automatic.

As you might imagine, this thing is fast. Chevy says the Grand Sport can hit 0 to 60 in 3.6 seconds flat. With the eight-speed and Z07 performance package, you’ll make a quarter-mile in 11.8 seconds at 118 mph. The Z07 performance package adds carbon-ceramic brakes, Michelin Sport Cup 2 summer tires, and carbon-fiber aero package that delivers true downforce.

The coupe and convertible go on sale this summer.  The coupe is priced to start at $66,445. The convertible at $70,445.

CHEVY FAST FACT: With heritage-inspired design cues combined with track-focused chassis and suspension elements, the new Grand Sport builds on a legacy established in 1963, when five Grand Sport race cars were built under the direction of the Corvette’s first chief engineer, Zora Arkus-Duntov.
