William Shatner Beams Aboard V8 Rivet For Road Trip

William Shatner Beams Aboard V8 Rivet For Road Trip

Captain Kirk is trading in space travel aboard the Enterprise for a cross-country road trip on a Rivet. What’s a Rivet you ask – why it’s a supercharged V8 3-wheeled motorcycle that William Shatner helped design himself.

Inspired by a B-17 bomber, the Rivet makes a silver-studded statement that’s for sure. Oh yes, we should mention the so-called “landjet” gets more than 500 horsepower. Shatner came up with the idea alongside the design team at Illinois-based American Wrench.

“Having this unique opportunity to design and build a custom machine for William Shatner, we knew it had to be nothing short of amazing,” explains American Wrench owner Kevin Sirotek. “Our vision with Rivet is simple, to give the most thrilling motor experience possible.”

(By the way, because we know you’re going to ask, they’re going to build more of these, but no pricing just yet.)

Shatner will hop aboard his custom ride on June 23rd to take part in an 8-day cross country road trip along Route 66.  The 84-year-old will start the 2,000 miles plus trip near Chicago and end in LA.

The trip isn’t just to showcase the bike, it’s also to raise awareness for The American Legion, the nation’s largest wartime veteran organization. He’ll even be joined by members of The American Legion Riders along the way. Shatner will be making pit stops in St. Louis, Kansas City, Oklahoma City, Amarillo, Albuquerque, Flagstaff, and Las Vegas before wrapping up in Los Angeles on June 30th.

“I am taking another step into the unknown!” said Shatner. “A phenomenal bike made by American Wrench and a 2,400 mile journey, where the road holds the big mystery.”

We hope Shatner is bringing plenty of sunscreen for the trip, since the Rivet features an open cockpit. Meanwhile, the entire trip will videotaped by a film crew for a television show that will air at a later date.

“The Ride”

The machine, straight from the creative brain of Shatner alongside American Wrench owner/designer Kevin Sirotek, is the ultimate landjet and unlike anything the world has seen before. A video describing what Rivet is can be seen at: http://www.rivetmotors.com/what-is-rivet/.

“Having this unique opportunity to design and build a custom machine for William Shatner, we knew it had to be nothing short of amazing,” explains Sirotek. “Our vision with Rivet is simple, to give the most thrilling motor experience possible.”

The journey will also be documented for an upcoming television show. The show will follow Shatner and company on their voyage through each city and traveling along the route. There will be opportunities in each city for people to come out and see the Rivet in person and meet Shatner and the riders. More information on this will be available in the future at AmericanWrench.com and RivetMotors.com.
