So you need a new car, but with so many choices out there the task of narrowing down your list can be daunting. Fortunately, there are some ways to help narrow down your list. For starters, listen to the Car Pro Show
with Jerry Reynolds who doles out advice to radio callers each and every week. We’d also recommend checking out our new car, SUV and truck reviews
Another way is to check out top vehicle lists. We like this one: Autotrader’s Best New Cars for 2020
. Twelve vehicles make the list, each unanimously agreed upon by editors. Vehicles had to be current model year or next model-year vehicles available for purchase at the time of the announcement. They also had to have a base price of $75,000 or less and offer a significant value for the asking price. Available technology and a rewarding or dynamic driving experience were also factors as well. Each winning car had to score an overall 3.9 or higher on the editors’ 5-point evaluation sheet.
“Our goal was to provide a helpful list of cars that offer exceptional value for their class, regardless of vehicle type or price,” said Brian Moody, executive editor for Autotrader. “Anyone in the market for a new car really should look outside their typical go-to brands—they might be surprised what they find. It's also worth noting that out of our 12 best cars of the year, only one is from a luxury brand. That tells you just how good cars from volume brands are now in their top trims when it comes to comfort, technology and design. Every vehicle Autotrader listed as a Best New Car for 2020 has ‘that certain something’ that makes it stand out in a very crowded field.”
Some interesting things to note: only one comes from a luxury brand, there are three mid-size SUVs on the list and four of the cars are available as a hybrid.
