It happens every year. Some old models are discontinued to make room for new ones, or sales are just so dismal that they get axed.
There may be more, but here are the 15 car nameplates we know are going away next year.
Iíve told the story many times on the air, but when I reviewed the Verano when it first came out, I wrote that the car was way overpriced. That so offended Buick they sent one of their Detroit executives to see me and tell me why I was wrong. I wasnít.2012 Buick Verano Review
This one makes me sad. GM and Holden in Australia got divorced and this awesome car is going away. This is one that will probably be a classic.2017 Chevrolet SS Review
I was one of the few reviewers in America who actually liked this car when it came out. It wasnít anything special but was a good car and a great value.2015 Chrysler SS Review
I know some people love these, but I found them to be just miserable to drive. In fact, Iíve passed the last two times I had a chance to review one. Viper is like a cat, they keep killing it and it eventually comes back.2015 Dodge Viper GTS Review
This one makes me sad, too. Truly an outstanding car. If Hyundai had marketed this car even a little, it would have been a hit.2012 Hyundai Azera Review
This vehicle has been around forever. It started as the FX and just never got much in the way of updates. Infiniti dealers tell me its replacement, the QX50
is really something special.2015 Infiniti QX70 Sport Review
The Patriot debuted in 2007 and had some success, with sales peaking in 2016 at 121,000. So far this year, sales have plummeted to under 40,000.
Lexus CT 200h
The little Lexus just never sold very well, although it is a great car. Basically an upscale Prius, most people never knew it even existed.
This vehicle was only sold in California, and it never took off. I have no idea why Mercedes made this thing so ugly.
This quirky little electric car never did very well at all, probably because it was so ugly and strange looking. It seemed to be a good car, but who would drive it?
Although improved in 2015, it was enough to save the little car. Mitsubishi is focusing on new SUVs, so something had to go and it is the Lancer.
Although it has been around since 1992 and started as a joint venture with Ford, Nissan continued to make it uglier as time went on. Sales of the boxy minivan have continued to slide.
Do I need to say anything?
I always thought this car was pretty and looked much like a Mercedes, but VW got greedy and overpriced it.2013 VW CC Sport Review
Hate to see this one go, a very solid SUV but VW decided the new Atlas would sell better, and they are probably right. The diesel model at one time did very well, but we all know that story.2015 VW Touareg TDI Review
