Mitsubishi is recalling more than 60,000 vehicles in relation to the massive Takata airbag recall.
The action involves 66,001 models:
- 2004-06 Lancer and Lancer Evolution
- 2004 Lancer Sportback
In recall documents, the automaker says they are equipped with defective passenger-side Takata inflators that could degrade over time in hot and humid conditions, causing them to rupture in event of a deployment.
Mitsubishi will begin notifying owners Oct. 22. Owners can call the automaker at 888-648-7820, or the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration’s vehicle-safety hotline at 888-327-4236, or visit the NHTSA recall website to check their VIN.
