I had a GREAT week with the 2009 Cadillac CTS. I reviewed this car a couple of years ago after the big changes and loved it then, and it has gotten more refined since.
My test car was not super loaded like they usually are. It did not have a moonroof or even navigation, which was a nice change to see the lower line. I always like cars the way they sell the best, which was in fact the car I had.
My silver review car was very pretty as you can see by the picture of the actual car. It came with the standard 3.6 liter V6 that delivers 258 horses, plenty for this car yet still delivering better than usual fuel economy for a luxury car. Also standard is a six-speed automatic transmission, which helped me get almost 24 miles per gallon in mixed driving and 27 on the road. I find that very impressive for a rear wheel drive, fairly large sedan.
The interior is more than nice and has a lot of room in both front and back seat. The Bose stereo lights up the well appointed and easy to operate interior. Steering wheel controls for the radio, temperature, and cruise control are very easy to operate. The leather Cadillac uses is just terrific.
For me, the suspension could be just a little stiffer, it seems a little squishy to me, but cornering and overall handling are fine.
Two knocks on the car is all I could find. One, the trunk is too small. There is no way to get a golf bag in the trunk, even with the back seat folded down. I know, I tried. And secondly, although nice to look at, the sloping roof-line makes rear seat headroom come up short. Otherwise though, this is a solid car and a good value given the current incentives.
$44,000 was the sticker price with actual transaction prices right around $41,000 if you take the 0% for 60 months. This is a car that is hard not to like!
