I had the 2009 Dodge Challenger this week and I will tell you, this car drew more attention as I drove than any in recent memory. I was supposed to have the hemi model, but it got wrecked coming off the transport. I ended up with a VERY attractive bright red six cylinder version.
The car was very retro both inside and out. Outside, it was almost identical to the size and look of the original. It drove great, was very comfortable and overall a joy to drive. The test car had one package that included 18″ aluminum wheels, all power accessories and an upgraded sound system. The car also has an impressive list of standard features.
While everyone wants to talk about the R/T version with the hemi, or the supercharged SRT8 with 425 horses, this is the car Dodge will produce the most of and sell the most of.
Up until last week, nobody would have been able to convince me that any car with a $25000 window sticker could stir so much emotion in people, I would have said you were crazy. But that is exactly what happened. In four days, I bet at least 50 people gave me a thumbs up sign as I drove the freeways around DFW. Dodge got this one right!
