Fiat Chrysler is recalling 646,000 model-year 2011-14 Dodge Durango and Jeep Grand Cherokee SUVs to check their brake boosters.
According to NHTSA recall documents, the vehicles were previously recalled so dealers could install brake booster shields to prevent water from entering the brake booster and limiting braking ability. Dealers now need to check the shields to make sure they were installed properly.
FCA dealers will inspect the brake booster shield and correct the installation, as necessary, for free.
Owners can expect to receive recall notices starting on Nov. 7. They can call FCA at 800-853-1403, or contact the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration’s vehicle-safety hotline at 888-327-4236. Head to the NHTSA recall site to check VIN numbers here.
