General Motors is recalling 800,000 2014 Chevy Silverado and GMC Sierra 1500 models that could lose power steering.
The trucks could suffer a temporary loss of electric power steering, especially during low-speed turning maneuvers, due to an electrical/software issue. GM started investigating the issue in February 2017 after receiving driver complaints.
GM dealers will update the vehicle’s software, but there is no word yet on when repairs will start. GM also says all Silverado and Sierra vehicles produced after 9/11/2017 will have the recalibrated software.
