Tesla is recalling 1,000 2016-2017 Model X SUVs with fold-flat second-row seats. The recalled models were built between Oct. 28, 2016, and Aug. 16, 2017.
The cables in the second-row fold-flat seats may not be properly adjusted. A faulty locking mechanism could cause the left-side seatback of the second-row seats to move forward unexpectedly in a crash, increasing the risk of an injury. The issue was detected during internal testing.
Tesla says it hasn’t received reports of any issues or accidents. Dealers will inspect the cables and, if necessary, properly adjust them for free.
Tesla is already notifying owners. Owners can call the automaker at 877-798-3752 for more information.
