2016 Was a Very, Very Good Year for Large SUVs

The final SUV tally is in for 2016 and it was a very, very good year for large people haulers.  Sales of big SUVs were up 21 percent in 2016 thanks to low gas prices and some pretty big factory incentives. The segment was up over 60,000 vehicles in 2016 versus 2015.

The biggest winner?  In terms of volume, it was the Chevrolet Tahoe. But the Ford Expedition showed the biggest year-over-year sales increase.

  2. Chevy Suburban – 60,082
  3. Ford Expedition – 59,835
  4. GMC Yukon – 53,447
  5. GMC Yukon XL – 37,054
  6. Nissan Armada – 14,035
  7. Toyota Sequoia – 12,771
