Audi is recalling approximately 8,400 model-year 2017-18 Audi A3 cabriolets and sedans.
It’s due to an issue that could cause an engine stall. Audi says the engine control unit software may misinterpret the flywheel rotation on engine startup as a “knocking” condition, and the adjusted air/fuel mixture may result in a stall, increasing crash risk. You can check out the official recall notice here.
Audi parent Volkswagen Group will begin to notify owners Sept. 29. Dealers will reprogram the software for free. Owners can call the automaker at 800-253-2834.
