The 2017 MINI Countryman
is cute, completely new, ready for fun, and now returning to the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety
Top Safety Pick list in the small car category.
The redesigned Countryman earned the status after rating ‘Good’ in all five IIHS crash tests and offering a new optional ‘Advanced’ crash avoidance system. The Countryman fell out of grace last year because it didn’t offer crash avoidance technology at all.
The new system is able to reduce collision speeds up to 7 mph in both the low 12 mph and high 25 mph tests. Meaning, less energy, and therefore less destruction, in the resulting crash.
