Off-roading just keeps getting more fun. GMC will now offer a version of its Sierra 2500HD called the HD All Terrain X. The super truck does just that. It allows you to travel over all terrain and takes into account the X factor.
The limited-edition comes with an all-new next-generation Duramax 6.6-liter V8 turbo-diesel engine. It offers more power than the last generation Duramax diesel. By the numbers it delivers 445-horsepower and 910 pound-feet of torque. There is a 6.0-liter gas V8 available as well. It rates 360-horsepower with 380 lb-ft of torque.
FYI, the standard 2017 Sierra HD and sibling 2017 Chevrolet Silverado HD will offer the new 6.6-liter diesel engine, too.
It joins two other All Terrain X models in the GMC lineup: the Canyon and Sierra 1500. Like these models it sticks with the black theme. The exterior uses black 18-inch aluminum wheels, trailering mirrors, belt moldings, front bumper, B-pillars, 4-inch sport side steps, and sport bar.
The limited-edition model only comes in Black Onyx and Summit White. The grille, door handles, and bodyside moldings match body-color. The grille has an All Terrain insert. Eaton automatic locking rear differential comes standard.
Teen Driver comes standard though we’re not sure what parent would trust their kid with this sweet set of wheels. Remote-locking tailgate, remote starting system, Rear Vision Camera, adjustable pedals, leather upholstery, heated seats, and wireless charging come standard too.
Check out the optional gear if you’re preparing for the X factor in off-roading. It includes spray-on bedliner, Front and Rear Park Assist, underbody shield heated steering wheel, and all-weather floor liners. The Z71 off-road suspension package adds Rancho shocks, Hill Descent Control, and a shield over the underbody transfer case.
Set a New Year’s goal to do more off-roading. The limited-edition model goes on sale at the beginning of 2017.
