Hyundai was serious about giving the 2017 Hyundai Elantra a power boost. The new Elantra Sport model packs “more than” 200 horsepower along with 190 pound-feet of torque. That’s quite a jump from the base Elantra SE’s 147 horses and 132 pound-feet of torque.
The automaker unveiled the new 2017 Elantra Sport variant Tuesday. Hyundai calls it the most powerful Elantra ever thanks to a 1.6 Turbo GDI engine under the hood. The Sport version also features powertrain and chassis updates along with some styling upgrades to, of course, amp up the sport factor.
Drivers can opt for either a six-speed manual or seven-speed Dual Clutch Transmission with paddle shifters. The Elantra Sport is also outfitted with independent multi-link rear suspension designed to elevate on-road dynamics and feel.
In terms of style, it gets unique features to the lineup including a flat-bottomed steering wheel and sport seats.
The Hyundai Elantra Sport joins the SE, Eco, and Limited models. It arrives in the fall. Look for pricing info then.
