There are two separate recalls to pass along involving 2017 and 2018 model year Hyundai Sante Fe SUVs.
2017 Hyundai Santa Fe
Certain 2017 Hyundai Santa Fe SUVs equipped with 3.3-liter engines are being recalled due to engine stall risk. Recall documents state that the crankshaft assemblies may have been produced with surface irregularities in the crankshaft pin. This could cause premature wear and tear on the engine that may cause the vehicle to stall at highway speeds.
The recall impacts approximately 420 SUVs. The recall is expected to begin October 18, 2017. Dealers will inspect and replace the engine, as necessary, free of charge. Owners may contact Hyundai customer service at 1-855-371-9460.
2018 Hyundai Santa Fe Sport
The recall involving the 2018 Santa Fe Sport involves a tire issue. In this case, NHTSA recall documents state the 196 recalled models are still on dealer lots.
The front coil springs may not have been manufactured correctly and could fracture under certain loads while driving. It could result in the tire being punctured, causing a loss of control.
Dealers will replace both front coil springs for free prior to the vehicle’s sale.
