A non-Takata airbag issue is prompting Infiniti to recall 814 model-year 2017 Infiniti Q50 and Q50 Hybrid sedans.
The problem is with the driver’s frontal airbag inflator which may have been improperly welded. If the airbag were to deploy in s crash situation, Infiniti says the inflator may crack and release the gas needed to properly deploy the airbag. You can check out the government’s official recall notice here.
Infiniti Dealers will replace the driver-side airbag inflator for free.
Infiniti’s parent company, Nissan, will begin notifying owners Oct. 30. Owners can call the automaker at 800-662-6200 (select Option 7), the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration’s vehicle-safety hotline at 888-327-4236 or visit the NHTSA recall website to enter their VIN number.
