2017 Jeep Compass Recall Over Jumpstart Instructions

2017 Jeep Compass Limited

If you don’t know how to jumpstart a car, you may not want to learn from the guide that comes with the 2017 Jeep Compass. FCA says the instructions may be wrong in the guide, so it’s recalling approximately 13,000 model-year 2017 Jeep Compass SUVs to replace them.

The issue is with a graphic that reverses the polarity of the battery terminals. So if you follow the guide, you’d be hooking up the battery incorrectly.

You can check out the official NHTSA documents here.

Fiat Chrysler Automobiles will begin notifying owners on Aug. 21. Owners can call the automaker at 800-853-1403 or the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration’s vehicle-safety hotline at 888-327-4236, or visit www.safercar.gov to learn more.

Dealers will replace the user guide with a corrected version for free.
