2018 Corvette Carbon 65 Edition Marks ‘Vette Milestone

2018 Corvette Carbon 65 Edition Marks ‘Vette Milestone

Chevrolet is throwing it down when it comes to muscle cars this week. It’s not letting Dodge take all the excitement with the release of its new Challenger SRT Demon. Instead, it’s cutting to the chase with its own special sports car. The 2018 Corvette Carbon 65 Edition. In honor and in celebration of the 65th anniversary of the Corvette.

Only 650 lucky drivers globally will get to own one of these anniversary models. Keep in mind it will only come on the Corvette C7 Grand Sport 3LT and Corvette Z06 3LZ trims.

On the Grand Sport 3LT, the 6.2-liter LT1 V8 engine gives you 460-horsepower, 465 lb-ft of torque, and a 0-60 mph time of 3.6 seconds.

Choosing the Z06 gives you a 6.2-liter aluminum V8 good for 650-horsepower and a matching amount of torque. It also smashes 0-60 mph in a scary 2.9 seconds.

The Carbon models add on, yep, a whole lot of carbon fiber. Most noticeably on the exterior. There are big exposed carbon-fiber detailing on the hood and roof. Don’t worry. If you opt for the convertible, you get carbon-fiber on the convertible’s extra exposed parts around the roof, aka tonneau inserts.

The spoiler gets the carbon-fiber treatment along with the intake ducts, steering wheels rim, badging, and outside mirrors. Cabin accents also go carbon. But with a twist. They’re done in ‘gloss’ carbon.

Standout non-carbon details include special fender stripes, door graphics, Black wheels, and blue brakes. The cabin also displays special Carbon 65 Edition sill plates, black suede with blue stitching upholstery, and competition sport seats. Exterior Ceramic Matrix Gray. In addition to the blue accent stitching, the convertible top goes matching blue.

You can order the Carbon 65 starting this summer. Of course, it doesn’t come cheap. It adds an extra $15,000 to whatever version of the Corvette you decide on. The rest of the 2018 Corvette lineup also arrives this summer.
