Well, the day many folks have been clamoring for is finally here. Lexus just unveiled the first-ever three-row RX, the 2018 RX 350L. And we don’t have to wait long to see it on the road because Lexus says we’ll see them in dealerships late this year. A hybrid RX 450hL is also on the way.
First-Ever Third-Row RX
The new RX 350L fits either 6- or 7-passengers. To fit a third-row, Lexus lengthened the SUV by 4.3 inches. There is also a steeper tailgate window angle than the two-row version to give third-row passengers enough headroom. The front and middle seats get standard leather-trimmed seating. A power-folding third-row seat is also standard. The standard seven-seat version uses a 40/20/40 split bench-type second-row seat.
Two Engine Options
The RX 350L comes with a 290-horsepower, 3.5-liter V6 engine. It’s paired with an eight-speed Electronically Controlled Transmission with intelligence (ECT-i). You can choose two- or four-wheel drive.
The more powerful RX 450hL features Lexus Hybrid Drive with a 3.5-liter V6 engine, two high-torque electric drive motor-generators, for a total of 308-horsepower. It comes standard with all-wheel drive.
What You’ll Spend
The two-wheel drive RX 350L will start from $47,670. The AWD gas model from $49,070, without destination charges. The RX 350L arrives in dealerships late this year. No pricing or sale date for the hybrid has been announced.
