The 2018 Nissan Pathfinder goes on sale this week with a starting price of $31,765; only a $875 increase.
The coolest new safety feature is Nissan’s new Rear Door Alert. This system reminds drivers to check the backseat after parking and getting out. This feature is key in making sure parents and babysitters don’t forget about the kid in the backseat. It’s also great for remembering pets.
Last year the Pathfinder received a big upgrade, so this year just brings a couple of upgrades and new standard features. Two of which are standard Intelligent Cruise Control and Automatic Emergency Braking. Auto Emergency Braking tracks the distance of things in front of the front bumper. It gives drivers audible and visual warnings to brake to avoid a forward collision. It will automatically brake if the warnings are ignored.
Other new, more simple but even more convenient, tech features are four new USB ports adding to last years two for a total of six USB ports, enough for all but one of the seven seats to have a place to charge up a device. NissanConnectSM with Navigation and Nissan Services now comes standard on the SL trim, instead of just the top Platinum trim.
It offers four trims: S, SV, SL, and Platinum. All levels are available with a 2- or 4-wheel-drive. Four-wheel costs an additional $1,690.
Scarlet Ember and Midnight Pine are new colors for 2018. The Midnight Edition that started on the 2017 model will continue to be an option. Its special touches include blacked out 20-inch aluminum-alloy wheels, mirror caps, spoiler, roof rails, grille surround, front and rear fascia accenting, license plate finishing, badging, and splash guards. Midnight Editions add illuminated kick plates and exterior approach lighting and the exterior color options of Pearl White, Gun Metallic, and Magnetic Black.
New for 2018 is the option of the Midnight Edition with the SL trim instead of only the Platinum, which makes it more affordable.
