The Atlas already gets the thumbs up from the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety (IIHS) with a Top Safety Pick rating. But now it even has the government on board. The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) rates it five-out-of-five stars for safety.
The Atlas gets an almost perfect safety score from NHTSA. It scores all five-stars in both the frontal and side crash tests. It only scores slightly less with four-stars on the rollover test. The scores are the same for both front- and all-wheel-drive variants.
Automatic Post-Collision Braking is standard on all Atlases. Deciding to get the full safety suite adds Forward Collision Warning, Autonomous Emergency Braking with Pedestrian Monitoring, Adaptive Cruise Control, Blind Spot Monitoring with Rear Traffic Alert, Lane Departure Warning, Parking Assist features, and 360-degree Overhead View Camera.
