The most powerful SUV is now rolling down the assembly line ahead of its arrival this spring. I’m of course talking about the 710-horsepower 2021 Dodge Durango SRT Hellcat. Production kicked off last Thursday at the 3 million-square-foot Jefferson North Assembly Plant in Detroit.
"Like welcoming a new member to the family, today's launch of the Durango SRT Hellcat celebrates the newest addition to the Brotherhood of Muscle," said Tim Kuniskis, Dodge Brand and Interim Chrysler Brand Chief Executive Officer - Stellantis, last Thursday. "The Dodge Durango Hellcat joins Charger and Challenger at the pinnacle of performance, and today's start of production in Detroit deserves a spot on every enthusiast's calendar."
As we reported in January, orders are full for the 2021 Durango SRT, which is currently only slated to be built for the 2021 model year. Dodge says approximately 2,000 Durango SRT Hellcats will be produced for the US and they’re scheduled to begin arriving at dealerships this spring.
FYI: I am reviewing a pre-production Durango Hellcat this week. Watch for the review and video premiere next Monday at 2pm CT on our YouTube Channel and you can read my entire review on www.CarProUSA.com.
I thought behaving in the Nissan GT-R was hard. It's worse in the 2021 Durango Hellcat with 710-horses. Launch mode and that sound! WAY too hard to resist. Most fun SUV ever!
