Ford is also reducing turbo lag with a high-efficiency variable-geometry turbocharger. A common-rail fuel injection system precisely optimizes performance and fuel efficiency, while a high-pressure 29,000 pounds per square inch injection calibration enables smoother, quieter operation with fewer emissions. Dual fuel filters also improve break-in, while a cast-aluminum oil pan and two-stage oil pump reduce parasitic loss and make it more fuel efficient.
5. Itís Engineered for Extreme Conditions.
Ford wanted to improve high temp, high-altitude performance. So instead of an electric cooling fan, engineers opted for a premium mechanical engine-driven fan and dual radiator shutters. It allows more air to move across the radiator and intercooler.
6. It comes with Fordís 10-Speed Transmission.
The Ford F-150 diesel is mated to a 10-speed automatic transmission calibrated specifically for the Power Stroke dieselís low-end power and torque curves. The tranny maximizes shift points and gear ratios to optimize power, low-rpm torque and efficiency. This segment-exclusive transmission can non-sequentially select the right gear ratio based on need Ė for best-in-class performance.
7. Yes, It Comes With Start/Stop.
Be aware that Start/Stop come standard to help save fuel and cut back on emissions while youíre driving. For Car Pro Show Host Jerry Reynoldsí overall take on Start/Stop systems check out our post here
