Itís the summer of special, blacked-out editions. BMW is the latest to join the party with the limited edition 2021 BMW X7 Dark Shadow. But before we go any further, we have to tell you according to its pre-ordering website, itís already sold out as there werenít that many to go around. Only 600 will be built globally - with production getting underway this August - and only 75 of those are reserved for U.S. buyers. Buyers will pay an MSRP of $119,495 plus $995 Destination to put one in their driveway.
Itís easy to see why it sold out rather quickly. The sleek-looking SUV marks the first time an X model will be painted in Frozen Arctic Grey metallic matte finish. Youíll also see extended Shadowline high-gloss black trim on the door window trim, B- and C-pillar covers, side-mirror base covers and roof rails, kidney grille and air breather trim. The tips of the M Sport exhaust system are finished in black chrome. It rides on 22-inch M V-spoke bicolor matte Jett Black light-alloy wheels outfitted with mixed-size performance run-flat tires.
The limited-edition delivers 523-horsepower and 553 lb.-ft. of torque.
The X7 Dark Shadow Edition comes equipped with a very comprehensive selection of standard and optional equipment and packages. The only option was to pick second row Captainís Chairs vs. the standard three-person bench seat.
Exclusive touches set it apart from the rest of the X7 lineup like Full Merino Leather in two-tone Night Blue/Black seats with contrast stitching. The headliner is trimmed with Night Blue Alcantara. The upper dashboard, doors and armrests are trimmed in Night Blue Nappa Leather while the lower dash and front seatbacks are covered in Black Merino leather.
Fineline wood trim with aluminum inserts on the upper console area finishes off the exclusive feel of this special X7. Piano Black trim on the lower center console is used as a backdrop for the limited-edition badge.
